Our Team

Kim and Brittni are mental health advocates working for Jewish Community Services (JCS), a human services agency serving the Greater Baltimore area. They met over 10 years ago in the dog walking world— Kim was Brittni’s boss! One day, Brittni got trapped by a mean, giant cat and Kim had to rescue her! That experience, hilarious and also petrifying (for Brittni), bonded them for life.

Years passed but they stayed in touch, keeping up with each other’s lives via social media and random run-ins at the grocery store. Then one day a few years ago, Kim decided she wanted to return to the working world after being a SAHM. Brittni thought she would be a great fit and recruited her to work for JCS. They're now each other's right-hand-woman and make The Mental Well a safe place for all things mental health— being sure to sprinkle a dash of humor into the mix where they can (but Kim is the funny one).

From growing up in households where addiction and mental illness were present, to navigating the challenges of young adulthood (the 30s and 40s are still young, right?), Brittni and Kim share a passion for bringing awareness to issues so many of us experience, yet so few of us are willing to reveal.

Welcome to The Mental Well, a safe space to create mental wealth.

Kimberly Ureno
Editor + Content Creator, Social Media Specialist

Kim lives in Catonsville, MD with her husband and identical twin sons. After being a stay-at-home Mom for 6 years, she decided it was time to re-enter the workforce and found a job promoting mental health and wellness. A staunch believer in therapy, Kim enjoys touting the benefits of mental health to anyone who will listen. When Kim isn’t in her home office, she can be found training for marathons, playing with her sons and dogs, or vegging out with her husband.

Brittni Barcase
Editor + Content Creator, Senior Manager, Prevention and Wellness

Brittni is a yoga teacher, content creator, and proud millennial who insists she’s still cool (jury’s out). When she’s not lifting at the gym, getting lost in a book, or exploring the outdoors, she’s writing to remind people that connection is healing, vulnerability is strength, and life is braver—and much more fun—when lived out loud. She believes in embracing the messy, laughing often, and finding joy in the little things (like a perfectly brewed cup of coffee or a good playlist for yoga class).
